Interventions at Mülheim
September 1 – 5
Everything is perishable. Nowhere does this fact show as clearly as in nature. But even our artificially created worlds, the cities, streets and virtual spaces are subject to this principle of nature. Italian artist ELFO adresses the topic of transience in his diverse works that span from documentary photography to installations. By combining street art, land art and conceptual art he creates a new and deeply personal form of artistic expression, while also revealing the multidimensionality of transience. The irony, provocation and spontaneity inherent in his works still mirror the big influence of street art. ELFO began his artistic career on the graffiti scene. His newer works, however, do not have much in common with his creative beginnings. Since ELFO’s style is subject to continuous change, it is best not to put a genre label on his works.
